For over 40 years, Clam has been a leader in creating innovative portable ice fishing shelters for ice anglers, and for the 2022-2023 ice fishing season, the Fish Trap flip-over ice shelters by Clam have been completely revamped. The new Fish Trap shelters now feature an XT door system, unlike anything ice anglers have seen before. This new technology is available in Clam’s Fish Trap models.

The XT door systems bring many advantages to ice anglers. These new doors allow for easier entry and exiting from the shelters and provide additional height inside the shelter for additional headroom and comfort. For one-person shelters, the door systems are extra tall, allowing anglers to walk in and out of the shelters without bending or crouching over and providing ample space inside for hooksets and extra space for comfort. The added space at the front of the shelter allows anglers to use longer rods and still obtain a great hook set. On two-person and larger Fish Trap shelters, the new door systems are a true side door with no additional poles near the doors that need to be adjusted. The side doors allow anglers to walk in and out of the shelter without stepping over their gear or ice holes. This new door system is possible on the complete Fish Trap line with the addition of an extendable pole on the inside of the shelter that can easily be set up or collapsed with the push of a button on the RSPX clips.

This new door system has been in the works for many years with the hard work of the Clam engineering team. “These new door systems offer many advantages to ice anglers with the easier access and expanded headroom without sacrificing the portability and easy set up of the Fish Traps,” says Clam R & D Department Manager Tom Walter. The team at Clam is excited to get these new shelters to the market and see them out on the ice this winter.

Along with this new door system technology, the Fish Trap lineup also got a refreshed look for this ice season. These new designs look sharp and will appeal to ice anglers across the ice belt. Every Fish Trap model has been revamped with this new door system and is available in all of the Clam Fish Trap models that ice anglers have known for many years: Scout, Legend, Kenai, Nanook, Yukon, Voyager, X100, X200, X300, and X400.
